The Swedish Transport Administration informs of possible delays for traffic using the Tjörnbron.

Between 25-March and 16-June 2019 work is being carried out on Tjörnbron (road 160) between the Island of Tjörn and the Swedish mainland.

This means traffic passing over the bridge will be affected in both directions depending on the time of day.

This also means that extra checks and planning are advised for transports to/from the Port of Wallhamn.

Completely closed off certain nights!
Firstly, a lane is closed 24 hours a day during the entire work peroid. In the remaining two lanes the speed has been reduced to 50 kilometers per hour.

Secondly, a certain lane is closed off during certain nights between 21:00 and 04:30. Only one lane is then open, where the traffic is released alternately with the help of a flag guard.

Most important of all, however, is that during certain periods the entire bridge will be closed in both directions between 23:00 and 04:30. On these occasions, vehicle traffic is diverted to the ferry route over Svanesund and further on to route 160, which means a long detour for the traffic and thus longer travel times.

Since the work to be performed during these nightime shutdowns is weather dependent, it is not yet clear when this will happen. Before each complete shutdown, information is added to our channels the very same day. Therefore it is advised to download the Trafiken.nu app which gives you push notifications for each shutdown. In this way the risk of delays is reduced.

Normal weight restrictions are un-changed, though for over-wide cargo the correct planning procedures should of course be checked as there could now be further restrictions to the width of oversized cargoes allowed across the bridge at certain times.

Walking and cycling over the bridge is not affected.

In connection with the nightime shutdowns, the emergency services will be able to cross the bridge if necessary.
